WPPI's leadership made their priorities clear when they unanimously
approved a $2.2 million increase in funding for energy efficiency and conservation programs in member communities in 2007. Program
funding is expected to increase by more than 300% in the next three years — from $2.38 million in 2006 to $9 million in 2009.
The primary objectives of this funding are: to lessen the negative impacts
of burning fossil fuels by reducing energy consumption; to control costs by reducing WPPI's future generation needs; and to keep
electric bills down by reducing energy use without adversely affecting convenience or productivity.

WPPI and its members have also made a commitment to renewable resources,
which offer significant environmental benefits and a more secure energy future.
WPPI expects to be six years ahead of schedule in meeting the state of
Wisconsin requirement that at least 10 percent of electricity purchased by retail customers in the state be supplied from renewable
sources by 2015. As a result of the planned addition of more than 150 megawatts of capacity from renewable resources, we anticipate
exceeding the 10 percent requirement in 2009.
