Information Systems
WPPI Energy’s wide-area network (WAN) facilitates member communication with staff, each other and external resources and individuals. There are more than 500 users connected to the WAN. WPPI Energy offers numerous information system services to members including:
- Computer Support - The wide-area computer network allows owners to access real-time information from WPPI Energy’s power supply system, share software and communicate by email. Members also receive network support and computer expertise and advice.
- Hardware/software purchases – WPPI Energy, through a joint purchase of computer hardware and software, offers members a state-of-the-art billing and customer information system and accounting software to help aid in local utility operations. WPPI Energy staff maintains and supports the hardware and software.
- Network Support - WPPI Energy provides local area network (LAN) and wide-area network (WAN) administration and support for staff and members.
- Electronic Mail - E-mail allows users to read, write and save messages, and share files and information in the form of attachments. Each network user is provided with an e-mail address for external, Internet email.
- Remote Network Support - A service to assist members in maintaining, upgrading and using networked computer resources effectively and efficiently.
- Large Customer Billing - A service to assist members with the monthly preparation of power bills, load profiles, billing history and tables and graphs for large retail customers.
- Billing Services - Data Retrieval, Translation, and Wholesale Billing are on-going services. IS staff retrieves, translates and formats load data from WPPI Energy and member revenue meters for wholesale and large customer billing.
- Intranet - An intranet web site provided to staff and WAN users as a means to publish and share information.
